Please Help -> 2413U w/ COM Access Denied

I'm a complete newbie at this, so I apologize in advance if this resolution to this problem is obvious.

I'm trying to setup a 2413U with mControl (3.0.3). I've set the communication to the right COM port, but I'm seeing this in the logs. Does anyone have any idea where to start troubleshooting?

Opened INSTEON controller [Port=COM3, Baud=4800, Data Bits=8, Stop Bits=One, Parity=None]
2012-02-25 09:51:57.284 0002.7511083 (005) X0 2414x: unhandled error in "InternalStartup()" method.
2012-02-25 09:51:57.284 0002.7511083 (005) X1 System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the port 'COM3' is denied.

The problem was something was locking that Serial port. I changed the port number and then was able to use Putty to access the connection.

In case someone else comes across this, VMware Workstation was causing the problem.
