INFO: Using the mControl Mobile Client

The mControl Mobile Client, though initially developed to support Windows Mobile devices (e.g., Windows Smartphones, Pocket PCs), can also be used for other popular mobile devices/phones including iPhone and iPod Touch devices.

Access within your Local Area Network
To use the mControl Mobile Client within your local area network, start your browser and go to the following URL:
- If the mControl server is on a Vista/XP machine: http://IP:29990/mobile.aspx
- If the mControl server is on a WHS machine: http://IP/mcontrol/mobile.aspx

- IP is your workstation name or the IP address of the PC on which the mControl server is installed.
- For Vista/XP, by default, mControl uses its own built-in webserver accessible via port 29990. For WHS, by default, mControl uses IIS accessible via port 80. For non-default configurations, you will have to make the required port (and/or URL) adjustments.

Remote access (outside your Local Area Network)
To have access remotely, you must follow the instructions provided here: http://www.embeddedautomation.com/fo...read.php?t=701.

To use the mControl Mobile Client within your local area network, start your browser and go to the following URL:
- If the mControl server is on a Vista/XP machine: http://IP:Port/mobile.aspx
- If the mControl server is on a WHS machine: http://IP/mcontrol/mobile.aspx

- IP is your workstation name or the IP address of the PC on which the mControl server is installed.
- Port is dependent on the port forwarding scheme.

Testing Your Mobile Client
The best test to ensure that your mControl Mobile client is operational is to open a desktop PC browser session (e.g., Internet Explorer) and access the URLs for the mobile client.

I notice that my 3rd party drivers devices aren't showing up on the mobile pages. Is there something that the developers or end users need/can do to make that happen?

Jens
