Hi,
I just downloaded the 2.1RCGOLD (b3015) version to install on my WHS.
Now unfortunately, I removed the existing version using control panel -> Add/Remove Programs instead of WHS Console -> Add-ins. Now when I go into the WHS Console to Add-ins, it shows that mControl is already installed, but fails to remove. The 'available' list has no addins in it, presumably because it thinks the add-in is already installed.
How can I remove the addin so I can install the latest version...?
Cheers,
Peter

howartp,
Contact support at embeddedautomation dot com. We're working on a document that explains how to get out of this problem. We can share an early version with you - before we publish it on the forum.

Thanks Tim.
For anyone else who reads this thread, there is now a sticky here (http://www.embeddedautomation.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3478#post3478) detailing the procedure.

Also - on a related theme.
I removed the old version correctly using the Add-Ins Manager.
Then copied the new version to the Software/Add-Ins folder.
Went back into the Add-Ins Manager, but couldn't see mControl as available to install.
This is a recent 'problem' on the WHS, possibly related to an MS update, and easy to get round by renaming the .msi file on the WHS (eg. mControlWHS_Setupp.msi).
Renaming makes the Add-In magically reappear.

Did you have two mConsole entries in the 'KnownAdditions' registry entry?
I had two, which I guess related to the known currently installed version plus the new copy of the msi in in the add-ins folder which wasn't showing up due to current install; I removed both of them plus the other thing (registeredadditions? can't remember what its called...) then copied new msi into add-ins again - worked fine first time.

I've just checked the registry after reading a thread over at wegotserved.co.uk (http://www.wegotserved.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=1263)
There was a bogus registry entry full of zeroes in KnownAdditions, as well as entries for all the previous installations.
Need to do a bit of tidying up.

Cheers - That's worth noting.
I'm subscribed to the WGS RSS feed for topics posted by the authors, but I've never actually looked at the forums from memory - must check them out!
Peter.
