mServer expers,
I just found the embeddedautomation website and the exciting mServer/mControl product - the answer to what I'd like to use as the heart of my control system in my upcoming house building project (Media Center centric). I'm a System Developer by profession, so I do understand the technology farily well, but I'm by no means a home automation expert - still just on R&D level.
I seems like mServer/mControl is very much aimed/developed for the American market, and I live in Europe (Norway), and control protocols like INSTEON, Z-Wave, X10 are not widespread or really supported over here (as far as I understand). E.g. X.0 does not integrate well with 3 phase electrical installations which is common here.
EIB (European Installation Bus) seems to be the way to go over here, see e.g. http://hiddenwires.co.uk/resourcesarticles2006/articles20060103-04.html
Assuming a Windows EIB driver is available (I'm sure there is one), how much work are we talking about getting mServer/mControl to work with it? Will the mControl software then "automagically" be able to use the driver and e.g. integrate it into the heat control/light control sections of the interface? Are you aware of EmbeddedSystems planning to implement EIB support themselves?
Any input would be much appreciated.
