Hi All,

Just finished working out how to set up the mControl software in Vista MCE. I had troubles getting the system to recognise the CM19A Fire Cracker module, which meant nothing worked. After some foraging through forums and FAQ's I found the way to make it all work:

1. Install the two programs in the C:\Program Files\Embedded Automation\mControl\X10 folder - "X10setup.exe" and "ahscript_setup.exe". This needs to be done as administrator (right click on file and select "Run As Administrator"). I also found it useful to install the "ahscript_setup.exe" program under XP-SP2 compatibility mode. You may get errors when closing the install - ignore these. You may also need to reboot.

2. Open the "mServer.exe.xml" (found in C:\Program Files\Embedded Automation\mControl\Server) in notepad (or similar text editor) and find the adapter base "CM15A". This adapter also controls the CM19A adapter. You need to change the "SendThrough" section from "PLC" (which stands for Power Line Control) to "RF" (Radio Frequency).

Once this is done restart the mControl server (from Start>Programs>mControl>Tools) and it should all work. You can then set up your lights, HVAC and other devices!

Happy Automation!

I am trying to use mControl (2.0) to operate my CM19 from Windows Home Server but no joy.

The "Firecracker" software works fine, so the CM19 leg is OK. I can't follow the instructions above because I don't seem to have a "third party" directory. On the other hand, the MControl installation does have a CM15 on the device list - I have tried to use this to drive the lights but with no success.

I tried to install the "non-WHS" edition to get ahscript_setup.exe but it won't install over the whs version.

Do I need to pursue the ahscript_setup.exe or do I have some other problem?

Cheers!

Russell,

I'm attaching the 3rd Party X10 drivers in a zip file. Do the following:

1. Use the ahscript_setup.exe to install the necessary X10 software components. You may have to restart your WHS. The zip file is here: http://www.embeddedautomation.com/mcontrol/net-2.0/3rd%20Party%20X10%20Software.zip

2. Once installed, select the CM15A driver using the mControl Service Manager and set to RF (instead of PLC) - then restart mControl.

If you are unable to talk to the CM19A, then send support your log files.

Thanks for the help, my CM19 has been working fine ever since, controlling the lights. I have now bought a full license and wanted to use the CM19 to recieve RF, instead of my plug-in transceiver, so that I can use mControl to process the actions. But it won't work, sadly. I can't get the CM19 (or at least mControl) to recognise any incoming signals, although they do trigger a transceiver if I plug it in.

I have noticed that I seem to have a CM19E rather than A. I don't know if that is significant. The manual says it it sends and receives.

Do I need to tweak a setting somewhere?

Cheers,

Russell.
