mControl v2.00 Release Candidate GOLD (RCGOLD)
This version is the official release of mControl v2.00. This version of mControl will install on Microsoft Vista and non-Vista systems (.NET Framework 2.0 is required).
A big thanks to our user community for providing their feedback in improving the quality of the product. :)
Notable changes from mControl v2.0 RC3 include:
- Fixes to security system connections
- Fixes to support non-COM1 serial interfaces
- Mis-labeling of sunrise/sunset macro conditions
Notable changes from mControl v2.0 RC2 include:
- Performance improvements including removal of delays caused by multiple clients connecting and disconnecting (e.g., MCML clients)
- Greatly improved system stability as the result of: CM11A/CM12A driver errors, video capture errors and logging system errors
- Support for 'subdomain.domain.tld' addresses for cameras
Notable changes from mControl v2.0 RC1 include:
- Support for Rako Controls (UK/EU wireless technology)
- Enhancements to the MCML user interface to handle non-widescreen displays and small zoned (e.g., two) databases
- Performance improvements related to Z-Wave driver
- Viewing of Axis cameras JPG views in MCML and Extenders
- Enhancement to the mControl logging system capabilities
- Confirmed compatibility with Media Center Communicator v2.0
- Fixes to the Windows Mobile interface
- Enhancements to the mControl v2.00 User Manual
As per the documentation, the following is the feature set for mControl v2.00:
>> New high-fidelity user interface for Microsoft Vista Media Center. The interface is written in Media Center Markup Language (MCML) – the native user interface language of Vista Media Center – and provides the View Zone screen and detailed view screens for HVAC, Security, Camera and Irrigation devices.
>> Enhanced macro functionality:
- Support for conditional triggering. Each trigger now has one or more conditions, which must all be true for the trigger to be activated.
- New macro conditions including “Device Status”, “Recurring Timer" and “Time Range”.
- Expanded “One Time” condition to allow for dates in the future.
>> Support for additional devices and technologies:
- Support for Rako Controls
- Support for DSC PowerSeries Security Systems (via IT100 module)
- Support for Proliphix IP Thermostats
- Enhancement to allow receiving IR signal via USB-UIRT
>> INSTEON protocol enhancements, including:
- Support for Power Line Modem 2412U (USB) and 2412S (Serial) adapter
- Support for SimpleHomeNet EZBridge (IP to INSTEON/X10 Bridge)
- Support of PowerLinc 2814U (PC Timer System)
>> X10 protocol enhancements, including:
- Support for the CM19A (USB) Adapter
- Support for the PowerLinc 1132CU Controller
- Improved handling of serial (e.g., CM11A) messaging
- Improved handling of extended X10 commands for Leviton and X10 devices (e.g., LM11)
>> Enhancements to the mControl (HTML-based) user interface, which is used by Internet Explorer and MCE 2005:
- New midnight skin which is optimized for lower resolution screens, in particular UMPC devices
- Improved handling of long Zone and Device names
- Improved and automated method of handling client screen sizes
>> Driver Development Kit (DDK) to allow developers to write their own protocol plug-ins.
>> Enhancements to various components to support Microsoft Vista
- Z-Wave modifications
- mControl Installer and 3rd party components
>> New Diagnostic page to assist trouble-shooting of mControl.
>> Many general enhancements to mControl including:
- Minor enhancements and bug fixes
- User documentation
The following limitations exist:
1. This version does not support 64-bit versions of Vista
2. MCE Events from extenders (e.g., Xbox 360) are not received by the mControl MSASAddin. We are investigating this but this may be by design.
3. For those users interested in the mControl Driver Development Kit (DDK), please contact sales@embeddedautomation.com.
4. mControl Editor is currently being significantly enhanced for mControl v2.1.
