I have a tablet PC, and it is on the same network as my MCE. It's netbios name is ccsihome1 I want to go to the browser on the tablet PC, and browse to http://ccsihome:29990/default.aspx. When I try, I get a Page cannot be displayed error.

Does the mControl have the ability to act as a web server to clients other than the localhost. It did work locallsy when I used the http://ccsihome:29990/default.aspx, but it did not work from the tablet PC.

What I am trying to head towards is maybe a web browser on touch screens, mounted around the house for home automation purposes, with mControl as the primary server.

mControl does act as a server to remote clients (e.g other machines running Internet Explorer or Media Center & Media Center extenders). Please try the following:

1. instead of specifying the netbios name of the machine running mControl, try specifying its IP address. e.g. http://[ip of machine]:29990/default.aspx

2. try to ping the machine running mControl from the tablet PC. If you can't ping the machine using its netbios name, there may be an issue with how the netbios name gets resolved in your network.

3. If you have any firewalls (including Windows Firewall), allow port 29990 to go through.

For the current version allow 29990, 29991 and 29992.
All ports from 29990 - 29999 are planned to be used with mControl in the future.

Where does it specify port 29990?
