There have been several requests on notes to use the USB-UIRT, so we're putting together a three step how-to guide:
1. Installation & Setup
2. Learning/Testing IR Codes
3. Using IR Codes in Macros

Installation & Setup
1. Install the USB-UIRT Driver for Windows
First, visit the USB-UIRT website and download the USB-UIRT drivers for your platform: http://www.usbuirt.com/support.htm. After these files are downloaded, unzip the contents and remember the location.
For pre-Vista, you'll need the v1.4 drivers and for Vista, you'll need the 2.x drivers:

Once you plug in the USB-UIRT, Windows will look for the drivers. Most likely Windows won't find the drivers and you can then direct Windows to the location of the downloaded drivers:

After Windows is done installing the driver, you can go to the Device Manager to confirm that the driver has been loaded properly:

2. Enable the mControl USB-UIRT driver
mControl also has a driver, which is the interface between mControl and the USB-UIRT driver/software. Use the mControl Service Manager to enable this driver:

To confirm that this driver is loaded and working, you should see the following within the mControl00x.log file:
Note: Date/Time information has been removed. This is a v2.1 RCGOLD2 log entry.
% [UUIRT] adapter driver version 1.3.0 is loaded and initializing (debug level=5)
...
USB-UIRT: controller found, Protocol Version=257, Firmware PluginVersion=1289, Firmware Date=3/26/2004
