mControl Add-In for WHS
Embedded Automation Announces mControl Developer Program First Announced Add-In Developed by Tekniska Byrån Supports
the KNX Protocol
Surrey, BC – November 26, 2007
Today, Embedded Automation, a leading provider of digital home automation systems,
announced the mControl Developer Program. The mControl Developer Program allows
developers to easily extend the functionality of mControl, Embedded Automation’s
popular and award-winning digital home software, and through a validation process
have these extensions certified by Embedded Automation for the mControl user community.
Starting with mControl v2.1, slated for formal release in Q4 2007, Embedded Automation will
ship a mControl Driver Development Kit (mControl DDK). The mControl DDK consists of samples
and documentation – allowing users to develop mControl Add-Ins, using the Microsoft .NET
language and development environment of their choice. Once developed, mControl Add-Ins can
be fully integrated within the mControl system, allowing administration and control from all
mControl user-interface clients and software utilities. Additionally, developers can submit
the Add-In to Embedded Automation for validation. Embedded Automation’s certification process
ensures that the Add-In properly and robustly implements the interface to mControl.
“At Tekniska Byrån, we specialize in KNX (International Standard ISO/IEC 14543-3), the
premier world-wide standard for home and building automation. Using the mControl Developer
Program, we have been able to quickly develop a software interface that marries the visually
stunning interfaces of mControl to the extremely robust KNX network – this is a powerful but
easy-to-use solution for our customer base,” said Mats Nordahl, Business Development Manager
at Tekniska Byrån.
“As mControl reaches more and more digital homes, the need to support additional technologies
has grown. The mControl Developer Program addresses this growth by letting developers create
Add-Ins for their area of expertise – while working within a structured and certifiable infrastructure.
The result is that, together with our development partners, we can offer a complete solution for
our common customers. We are proud to partner with companies like Tekniska Byrån and provide an
overall solution,” said Ted Singh, Business Development Manager for Embedded Automation.
“With additional Add-Ins in the queue, the mControl platform will reach out to more and more
users around the globe.”
About the KNX Association and the KNX Standard
The
KNX Association is the creator and owner of the KNX technology – the world’s only open
standard for all applications in home and building control, ranging from lighting and shutter
control to various security systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, monitoring, alarming,
water control, energy management, metering as well as household appliances, audio and lots
more. KNX is approved as a European (CENELEC EN50090 and CEN EN 13321-1) and an
International standard (ISO/IEC 14543-3).
